Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, confusing or difficult to manage alone. Counselling gives you a confidential, supportive space to talk openly, understand what you are experiencing and explore what might help you move forward.
Blue Frog Therapies is home to three independent counsellors and psychotherapists, each offering a different approach and range of experience. You can choose the practitioner who feels most suited to you and book according to their individual availability.
Sessions take place in calm, private rooms at the Blue Frog Therapy Centre, 38 Bootham, within easy reach of York city centre.
You do not need to be experiencing a crisis or have a diagnosis to benefit from counselling. You may simply feel that something is not right, that familiar patterns keep repeating or that you need somewhere safe to work through what has happened.
People come to counselling for support with experiences including:
Your counsellor will not judge you or tell you what decisions to make. Instead, they will listen carefully and help you explore your feelings, experiences and relationships at a pace that feels manageable.
Choosing the right therapist is an important part of counselling. Each Blue Frog practitioner works independently and brings their own training, experience and way of working.

Person-centred counsellor · Registered member of the BACP
Beth offers a gentle, compassionate and empowering approach to counselling. She provides a safe and confidential space where you can talk through what is happening and begin to understand what your emotions, experiences and values may be telling you.
Rather than giving advice, Beth works alongside you to help you reconnect with yourself and decide where you would like to be. Her person-centred approach can also incorporate creative ways of working where these feel helpful.
Beth works with adults of all ages and has experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, stress, spirituality, relationship difficulties, parenthood and the pressures of feeling constantly busy or overwhelmed.
She offers short-term and longer-term counselling, with appointments available both in person in York and online.
Beth also offers a free 15-minute introductory call.

Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist · Registered member of the BACP
Katrina offers counselling and psychotherapy to adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
Her approach is integrative and relational. This means she draws upon different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular model of therapy. At the heart of her work is a safe, supportive and collaborative relationship in which you can feel heard and understood.
Katrina works with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions and experiences that may leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected.
She has a particular interest in emotional eating, addiction and problematic coping behaviours. These are explored with curiosity and compassion, recognising that behaviours we judge ourselves for may have developed as ways of managing difficult experiences.
Katrina holds an MA in Integrative Counselling and a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Mental Health. She offers both short-term and longer-term therapy.
