Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

We will work together to look at how your thoughts, emotions, physical symptoms, and behaviours are linked together to create a cycle. Often, changing one of these areas will make a huge difference to how we feel. Of course, if changing these areas was easy, you wouldn’t be seeking support. We will work together to ensure you understand your own cycle and we will discuss which of these areas to work on. CBT is very much a ‘doing’ therapy, where we discuss what actions are required to help you move towards your goals, and most importantly, I will help you put these actions into motion.


Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR focuses on memories of traumatic and/or stressful experiences that can contribute to psychological difficulties. It supports people to recover from symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.


What will you get from your therapist?

What you will get is someone who will work with you to overcome the obstacles that you have control over, whilst showing you that it is still possible to live a meaningful life when things don’t always turn out how you hoped. We might not be able to thrive all the time, but what we can do is get the confidence to know we can survive whatever life throws at us.

What will you not get from your therapist?

Some types of Counselling might have a more passive approach, you might have experienced this in the past where you talk and talk, with little input from your counsellor. This is not what you will experience with your therapist. We will work together. Your therapist is there to listen to you and guide you towards the steps that will help you make necessary changes. At times this will be gentle, and at times it might be more direct, if this is what you need because no positive change comes from staying in our comfort zone.
